About Below Brew Co

Below Brew Co., formerly known as Lowtide Beer, is a UK-based craft brewery founded by Rob and Dave two friends determined to create low-alcohol beers that taste just as good as their full-strength counterparts.

Launching in 2020 with a small 1,000-can batch that sold out instantly, they’ve since become a familiar name in the alcohol-free craft beer scene.

In 2024, the brewery rebranded as Below Brew Co., aiming for a cleaner identity and long-term growth. Innovation remains central to what they do.

With beers like Brune DMC and The Cosmic Turtle showing just how much flavour is possible in alcohol-free brewing.

Introducing Forget to take my PILS – Hoppy AF Pilsner

Below Brew’s Forget to Take My Pils is a playful take on a classic style, proving that alcohol-free doesn’t have to mean flavour-free.

Styled as a crisp, modern pilsner, it promises clean bitterness, subtle malt character, and the kind of easy drinkability you’d expect from the real thing.

It’s the sort of beer designed for fridge-raiding moments when you want something refreshing, familiar, and effortlessly sessionable without the session. But does it deliver that true pils snap, or does it forget what makes the style great in the first place?

My Review: First Sip Impressions

Aroma

Light and clean on the nose, with gentle hop notes and a touch of sweetness. Nothing overpowering, but pleasant and inviting for a pilsner-style beer.

Appearance

There’s very little head formation when poured, which gives it a slightly flat look in the glass., though a rich brown/yellow hue.

Taste & Mouthfeel

The first sip delivers a refreshing hop-forward flavour, followed by a mild bitterness that lingers into the finish. Compared to other Below Brew beers I’ve tried, this one feels a bit simpler and less complex though that’s not entirely unexpected for a pilsner compared to their darker or more experimental styles.

The mouthfeel has a decent viscosity and coats the palate nicely, but carbonation feels a touch low. There’s also a noticeable bitter aftertaste that sticks around longer than I’d like.

Verdict

I’m generally a fan of Below Brew Co., and based on previous releases I had fairly high expectations going into this one. As an alcohol-free pilsner, Forget to Take My Pils does deliver a clean, refreshing, and easy-drinking experience.

While it didn’t quite hit the same heights as some of their other beers for me personally, I’d still recommend it to anyone looking for a solid alcohol-free lager or pilsner.

The disappointment is more about expectations than quality  the bar had simply been set very high.
