February  – Alcohol-Free News Round-Up

Starting February off, I’ve been taking another look around the alcohol-free world to bring you some interesting titbits from the past few weeks.

Londoners Increasingly Turning to Low & No Alcohol (BBC)

An interesting read from the BBC reports that 41% of people in Greater London planned to take part in Dry January this year, compared to a 32% national average with many opting for alcohol-free beers.

The article also highlights a few London bars specialising in AF drinks, such as Lucky Saint Pub and Club Soda Tasting Room both definitely worth checking out if you’re in the capital.

They also mention a Bermondsey brewery I hadn’t come across before Small Beer Brewery which bills itself as “the world’s first brewery dedicated to producing beers up to 2.8% ABV.” While that sits slightly outside the strict vibe of this blog, it’s still very much in the moderation space, and I’m looking forward to giving their range a try.

Impossibrew Launches on Ocado (Kamcity)

Impossibrew the alcohol-free beer brand aiming to give you a “buzz” without alcohol using plant-based relaxation blends has now launched on grocery delivery platform Ocado.

For me, this is an exciting development and another sign that AF drinking is becoming more and more mainstream especially when innovative brands start landing in major retail channels.

AF beverages account for roughly 10–20% of the market in parts of Europe, compared to around 1% in the US but the category is growing fast, with beer often acting as the “gateway” into moderation.
