Kaiserdom Pink Grapefruit 0.0% Weizen Mix Review – Refreshing or Too Sweet?

Kaiserdom Brewery is a long-established German brewer based in Bamberg, a city famous for its deep-rooted beer culture and traditional Bavarian brewing styles. Known for producing everything from crisp pilsners to classic wheat beers, the brewery has also embraced the growing demand for alcohol-free options in recent years.

Their expanding 0.0% range doesn’t just stick to the classics either. Kaiserdom has started experimenting with more modern, flavoured blends aimed at drinkers looking for something lighter, fruitier, and seriously refreshing.

One of the more unusual options in their lineup is the Pink Grapefruit Alcohol-Free Weizen Mix. This drink combines alcohol-free wheat beer with grapefruit lemonade (typically around a 50/50 split), creating something that sits somewhere between a radler and a fruit beer.

The result? A bright, citrus-forward drink that leans heavily into refreshment.

Tasting Review: Aroma, Appearance & Drinkability

Aroma

As soon as you crack the can open, the grapefruit hits you straight away. It’s bold, zesty, and unmistakably citrus-forward—so much so that you barely notice any traditional wheat beer aromas underneath.

Appearance

Pouring into the glass, you get a soft, foamy head typical of a weizen. The beer itself has a hazy, pinkish hue, combining that classic wheat beer cloudiness with a subtle blush from the grapefruit.

Taste & Mouthfeel

The grapefruit leads the charge again on the first sip sharp, slightly tart, and refreshing. That said, it’s not one-dimensional. There is a gentle wheat beer backbone that adds a bit of softness and keeps things from feeling like a straight soft drink.

Carbonation is lively without being overpowering, which helps lift the citrus notes and makes it incredibly easy to drink. The only downside? It does lean on the sweeter side, which might limit how many you’d want in one sitting.

Verdict

I’ll be honest I wasn’t sure whether this really counted as a “beer” or more of an alcopop-style drink.

But it won me over.

The balance between grapefruit and wheat beer works better than expected, creating a genuinely refreshing alcohol-free option that’s perfect for warm weather, BBQs, or a sunny beer garden session. That said, the sweetness might be a dealbreaker for some. Personally, I’d happily have one on a hot day but probably not a full session
